Teaching local history one program at a time!

What is it? Program for Schools

Have the Museum's Curator or Caretaker come and talk to your class!  We'd love to come visit your classroom and make history come alive by bringing artifacts from the Museum to have the children guess what they are.  We also discuss local history and what life was like in the past.  This program is free of charge for Southington.  Out of town schools please call for availability and pricing. 
  • Elementary/Middle/High School talks available
  • Multiple classrooms accommodated
  • Each student will receive a FREE pass to come visit our Museum
  • Collegiate level talks available upon request


Historical Talks and PowerPoint Presentations
Are you a part of a social group, historical society or club?  History is for everyone and we can bring a topic to you! Have the Museum's Curator or Caretaker come and talk to your group.  
  • Specific topics available upon request (Preservation, Civil War Letters, Social Class history, etc)
  • Good will donation to the Museum appreciated      


Youth Groups
Social Youth Groups (Scouts/Religious/School/Civic) can come visit the Barnes Museum for a private tour and history lesson.  Working on a special badge?  Let us know.  We may be able to help!
  • previous youth events have included private tours, proper table etiquette, and historic walking tours/hikes
